He is also survived by his favorite cousin Virginia Arias and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will miss him. He is survived by his only daughter Dolores, his sisters Yolanda Chavez, Gloria Jacobs, and sister in law Marisela Solis, and brothers Johnny Solis and Fernando Lopez. His faith stayed strong, and he continued to trust in the Lord.Īlex was preceded in death by his mother Irene Solis and nephew Johnny Ray Solis. He spent more days in the hospital than he ever wished. In his final years, he struggled in health due to diabetes. Church was what he looked forward to on Sundays and Wednesdays and spending time in God’s word. His favorite things were spending time with his cousins, family, and friends. He had an eye for art that he surrounded himself with. He also loved taking care of his plants as he had a wonderful green thumb. In 2009, Solis won the Sham Stakes aboard The Pamplemousse, a horse who was part-owned by Alex II, and in 2012 rode the filly Irish Mission to victory on the turf at Woodbine to capture the Breeders' Stakes. He cared for his home by making it look nice and inviting for those who visited. Alex Solis, of Las Cruces, NM passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on November 28, 2022, at the age of 67. His son, Alex Solis II, born in 1984, became a bloodstock agent when he was 20 years old, and owns several racehorses, some of whom his father has ridden in races. He was born to Israel Solis and Irenia Baca on May 06, 1955, where he spent most of his life in his home town Las Cruces, NM as well as several years in Silver City, NM.Īlex enjoyed many things like gathering with family and friends, cruising around town, visiting casinos, sitting outside, and reading the daily newspaper and the Bible. ![]() Alex Solis, of Las Cruces, NM passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on November 28, 2022, at the age of 67. ![]()
